[May 30] TIP Master Class with Matthew Gantt

This workshop will explore creative and expanded approaches to sound in virtual contexts, from real-time simulations to video game environments. Taking conceptual and technical inspiration from canonical approaches found in experimental electronic music, participants will learn the fundamentals of working with real-time audio and spatial sound in the Unreal 5 game engine, and create their own interactive and generative virtual environments.

📅 Date: Saturday, May 30, 2026
🕓 Time: 1:00–3:00 PM
📍 Location: Governors Island, Nolan Park, Harvestworks Building 10a
📩 RSVP required: studio@harvestworks.org

Pending group interest, further approaches for integrating game engine simulation with traditional audio sequencing and synthesis tools via OSC and MIDI protocols can be covered. No prior experience with Unreal engine or game simulation required. Participants are encouraged to bring laptops with the Unreal 5 engine pre-installed ahead of time, but accommodation for all will be made if not possible.
